What is an Empowered Grant?
It provides funding for the purchase of assistive equipment and technology to individuals diagnosed with KAT6A and KAT6B syndromes. Assistive equipment and technology can enable individuals to participate more fully in society, care for themselves, reach educational goals, build stronger connections, improve communication, and lead to social and emotional growth.
Assistive equipment includes but is not limited to: iPads, AAC software, gait trainers, standers, adaptive switches, weighted blankets, eye glasses, feeding tools, and therapeutic swings.
Today, we are proud to expand this program to include reimbursement of expenses for therapy treatment. This includes private speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, ABA therapy, feeding therapy, vision therapy, hippotherapy, aquatic therapy, music and art therapy.
